Scorekeeping: Top 3 per Class
The top 3 in each of the following classes for each race, should be recognized in the awards document sent out after each Summer Season:
UNCLASSIFIED CLASS: BEGINNER
SPORT CLASS: NOVICE
MATCH CLASSES: YOUTH, JUNIOR, SENIOR, MASTER.
Scorekeeping: World Cup System
This scorekeeping method rewards participants for attending as many of the 6 inter-league Summer Biathlons as they can and doing as well as they can each time.
1st place is worth 30 points, 2nd place 26 points, 3rd place 24 points, 4th place 22 points, 5th place 21 points, 6th place 20 points and on down to 1 point for 25th place. Slower racers than 25th place receive zero points for a race under this system. Current Standings are updated on this webpage after each race.
Scorekeeping: Teams
NOTE: Team Standings are updated on this webpage after each inter-league Summer event
Q: Who can form a team and under what conditions?
A: Any group can form a team; there are no size-limits; participants may only switch teams during September through May.
Q: When are points earned?
A: Race points are earned upon crossing the finish line.
Q: How are points given out?
A: Points equal to the number of classified finishers (NOVICE, YOUTH, JUNIOR, SENIOR, MASTER) are awarded to the finisher with the best time among Match Class Participants first (YOUTH, JUNIOR, SENIOR, MASTER).
Q: If there is only 1 classified participant finishing a race, how many points will he or she receive?
A: 1 point.
Q: If 100 classified racers finish a race, how many points will the person shooting in one of the match classes with the best time receive?
A: 100 points.
Q: If there are only 2 teams, which team will win?
A: Any 3 will beat any 1
Any 5 will beat any 2
Any 13 will beat any 3
4 participants are theoretically capable of beating an infinite number of opponents.
If both teams have at least 4 participants the venue with the biggest number of contestants becomes the place to be, since there are more points available.
Q: What's a good simple strategy for team victory over the course of the season?
A: Get as many participants as you can for the home events, as well as your best 1 to 6 and just send your best 1 to 6 to the away events.
Q: What else?
A: Being on a team helps motivate the organizers to draw in more participants for more points to beat the other clubs' organizers. People are free to declare they will run as an Independent, at registration, if they don't want to be on any team.
